I was recently hooked up to Twitter from an old (not as in aged, but rather long standing) friend, which is a "micro-blog" communication medium. Paul is one of those people that I can spend endless hours talking with, particularly if no topic is chosen. If I were picking someone to drive across the country with, Paul would be at the top of my list (immediate family excluded, as in not coming on this hypothetical journey).
Anyway, Paul twitters away throughout the day on a series of largely unrelated but fascinating topics. He recently shared the following - (money quote: "If all the insects were to disappear from the earth within 50 years, all life on earth would end. If all human beings disappeared from the earth within 50 years, all forms of life on earth would flourish."):
